Steve's Internet-savvy expertise began with his position as Business Development chief of an early web-design firm, Web Access, Inc. (Newtown Square, PA) in September 1995. In addition to his primary sales and management responsibilities, Steve also directed and implemented design, HTML, technical coding and hosting for a number of clients, including Conrail, Yahoo!, and C|Net. When Web Access was acquired by US Interactive in October 1996, Steve's talents proved essential to the growth and eventual market leadership position of that Internet professional services firm.
Over the course of more than four years at US Interactive, Steve established a separate division of the company to deliver Internet professional services for small and mid-size businesses (USI Studios), and also spearheaded the company's launch of European operations, leading the London office to the end of his tenure. Steve's many responsibilities in the period from 1996 through 2000 included sales, marketing, team management, client management, recruiting, strategic consulting, real estate acquisition, and integration of a number of acquired companies. His varied titles at US Interactive included Producer (1996), Senior Project Manager (1997), Director of Technical Services (1997-1998), Director of Operations for USI Studios (1998-1999), Vice President for Business-to-Consumer Practice (1999), and Vice President of European Operations (1999-2000).
Among the notable clients who benefited from Steve's expertise while at US Interactive were adidas; Swiss Re (a global insurance giant headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland); the National Football League; Express Auto Parts; LA Looks (cosmetics); Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia; Deloitte & Touche/ICS Consulting Group; Royal Caribbean International; Comedy Central; and the Comcast Corporation.
